Nedrose hosted Surrey last night, October 21st, for Monday night volleyball activities. Both teams started a heated rally against each other in the first set. Surry fought through the second half of the set to win 26-24.
The Mustangs bounced back from that win and won the second set against the Cardinals, 25-17. Surrey needed just three to take the third set 25-20 and ultimately defeat Nedrose 3-0.
In the Mustangs’ junior victory, Mekenzie Neighbors led the way with 11 digs, six kills and four aces. Senior MaKya Gerding had five kills, four aces and four blocks. Senior Alexa Ryals led the team with seven assists.
Cardinals senior Lily Nelson led the team with 20 digs, 12 kills and two blocks. Freshman Brynley Birch led the team with 15 assists and three aces. Senior Kenna Huff finished with 11 digs and four kills, and senior Mahal Risotto had 14 digs and three aces.
Nedrose will play Garrison today at Garrison High School at 7 p.m.
Nedrose sits in sixth place in Region 6, District 11 and will hold that spot until postseason play begins. Surry sits seventh in the Region 6, District 12 standings and will retain that spot as well.
Surrey will play rugby at home today, October 22nd at 7pm. This game will have little effect on Surrey’s seeding, but in rugby, Drake Annamuth, Bottineau, Newburgh-Westhope, and TGU are competing for seeding, so a win would put them at the top of District 11, District 6. There will be competition for the slot. to 5 before the postseason begins.
Des Lacs-Burlington 3, Bottineau 1
Delac vs. Burlington’s Lady Lakers head north to take on the Bottineau Lady Braves in Class B volleyball action on Monday, Oct. 21, with the visiting team scoring 25-15, 28-26, 20-25, They returned home with a 25-20 victory. 4 frame play.
The end of the second frame and the third looked like the Braves had stolen the Lakers’ momentum. De Lac Barrington tightened his belt and ultimately swung the fourth frame in his favor.
Despite the win, the Lady Lakers are solidified as the third team in the Region 6, District 12 standings as the postseason approaches. Bottineau is in a five-way seeding battle in Districts 6 and 11 with Drake Anamoose, Rugby, TGU and Newburgh-Westhope, and a loss could drop the Lady Braves to fifth place in the standings. The Lady Honkers will host the Lady Bombers in games against the Kenmare Bowbells, the top seed in Region 8, District 16, and Berthold, the fourth place team in Region 6, District 12, with both teams on the move regardless of the win or loss. There wasn’t.

The Tioga Pirates traveled to take on the Glenburn Panthers in Class B volleyball action. The home team defended the court in this match with frame scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 27-25.
Tioga is still looking for seeding in Region 8, District 16, with Ray and Powers Lake/Burke Central still torn between second and fourth.
Glenburn sits solidly in fifth place in the Region 6, District 12 standings as postseason play quickly approaches.
Beulah 3, Killdeer 0
Killdeer traveled to Beulah for Region 7 volleyball action, with the home team winning three straight, 26-24, 25-17, 25-21, looking to move into the middle of the standings for postseason play.
North Shore Plaza 3, Partial 2
In a heated battle between neighboring teams, the home team from North Shore Plaza emerged victorious over the visiting team from Parshall by scores of 25-23, 18-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-12 .
The teams traded frames, with North Shore Plaza taking frames 1 and 3 and Parshall taking frames 2 and 4. The final deciding frame was 15-12, with the Wildcats sending the Braves home with a narrow loss.
Heading into the game, both teams were competing for the No. 2 seed in Region 8, District 15 along with Newtown and Alexander. The win gives the North Shore Plaza host team an advantage while they await the results of other district games.
Trenton 3, Stanley 2
The Trenton home team came from behind to defeat the visiting Stanley team, 25-13, 24-26, 23-25, 25-3, 15-9.
The Lady Tigers appeared to have the upper hand in the first frame, but the Lady Bluejays turned the tables in the second and third frames and fought back to tie the game, ultimately leading to a tough Class B, Region 8 volleyball contest. I had to get the win.
Trenton leads the Region 8, District 15 standings and Stanley is sixth in the Region 8, District 16 standings. Both teams are in the slot to hold for the start of postseason play.
Powers Lake Bark Central 3, Newtown 0
The Eagles of Newtown hosted Powers Lake Burke Central and the visiting team won 25-13, 25-23, and ultimately 25-13. 0
