Chris Dinan has been named the new executive producer of World News Tonight, along with David Muir. He will succeed Armin Karamedovic, who was appointed president of ABC News in August.
Dinan has been a senior broadcast producer for news programs since 2014 and joined the network in 2011.
The station also announced that senior producers Anjoli Francis, Jennifer Metz and Brian Reiferson will be responsible for additional live broadcast duties in the control room.
World News Tonight is the top-rated news program and sometimes the most-watched program on television. Karamemedovic wrote in a memo to staff that Dinan “brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to his new role.” I have full confidence that he, along with the incredible World News Tonight team, will help us continue our tradition as the #1 news program for nine consecutive years. ”
Karamemedovic also cited Dinan’s experience covering combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the coronavirus pandemic and ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
Before ABC News. Dinan was at CBS News where he served as a senior and field producer for anchors Dan Rather and Katie Couric. He was promoted to the position of senior broadcast producer for the CBS Evening News.
