JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown University women’s hockey team completed a busy weekend with a 4-2 victory over the University of Minnesota on Sunday, Oct. 20, at John L. Wilson Arena.
The Jimmies (3-3-1) got off to a strong start, taking a 1-0 lead with a goal by Riley Gee 28 seconds into the game. Morgan Selly of the Jimmies scored his first career goal and led 2-0 going into the second intermission.
Gabi Schroder of the Jimmies scored an early goal in the first minute of the second game to make it 3-0. The Gophers (0-2-0) scored midway through the period to pull within 3-1. The teams exchanged goals in the third, giving the Jimmies their second win of the season.
Laila Drew of the Jimmies had 28 shots but saved 26. Gophers’ Nicole James, on the other hand, had 37 shots thrown at her and made 33 saves.
The Jimmies will be back in action Friday, Oct. 25, when they head to McKendree University at 2 p.m.
