The Los Angeles Rams will receive major reinforcements for Thursday’s primetime game against the Minnesota Vikings.
After the Rams’ important Week 7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, head coach Sean McVay said he expects superstar wide receiver Cooper Kupp to play in Week 8.
Kupp missed the last four games with an ankle sprain. Although he was listed as questionable before Week 7, all signs point to Kupp being good enough to play this Thursday night.
The 31-year-old All-Pro returned to the practice field earlier this week and last week during the Rams’ bye week. Kupp played only five quarters before suffering an ankle sprain in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals, and only a few quarters after that.
Before getting injured, Kupp exploded in a big game against the Detroit Lions in Week 1. He had 14 receptions on 21 targets for 110 receiving yards and one touchdown. He looked ready for another big season. Nevertheless, there is still time left in the season, and Kupp and the Rams have plenty of time to turn their season around.
LA made a big breakthrough in Week 7, as the Rams picked up their second win of the season against the Raiders, 20-15. The Rams’ defense didn’t allow a touchdown and forced four turnovers, including a huge interception in the game-clinching fourth quarter, leading to the win.
The Rams are currently 2-4 and will host the 5-1 Vikings, one of the best teams in the NFC and NFL. The Vikings have been one of the surprise teams thus far, coming off their first loss of the season at home to the Lions on Sunday.
It looks like both teams will be taking a short break and each will have star wide receivers on their side.
While Kupp’s news is positive for the Rams, there are still a number of players who aren’t ready to return to the field, including All-Pro wide receiver Puka Nacua.
Nacua re-aggravated a knee injury in training camp and has been out since Week 1 of the season. The Rams have been plagued by injuries, but many of their top players will eventually return.
The only question is whether they can get most of their players back in time to get the season back on track.
LA will be looking for an upset win against the Vikings this coming Thursday.
