Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the alleged assassination attempt on Hezbollah and his wife was a “grave mistake” and that anyone who seeks to harm the Israeli people will pay a heavy price. Hezbollah was warned.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s warning was seen as a response to a drone being fired at his residence in the Israeli town of Caesarea.
In a post on X on Saturday, Prime Minister Netanyahu called Hezbollah an “agent of Iran” and said the assassination attempt would not deter him or Israel from continuing to wage war against the country’s enemies.
“Today’s assassination attempt on me and my wife by Iran’s Hezbollah proxy was a grave mistake. It deters me and the state of Israel from continuing a just war against our enemies to protect our country’s future,” Netanyahu said in a statement. I can’t do that,” he said.
It was a grave mistake that Iran’s Hezbollah proxy tried to assassinate me and my wife today.
This does not deter me or the State of Israel from continuing to wage a just war against our enemies to secure our future.
I say to Iran and its agents of the axis of evil:

The prime minister warned against Iran and the “axis of resistance” including Hezbollah, Hamas and Yemen’s Houthis, saying Israel was determined to achieve its war goals and “change the security reality in the region for generations.” He said there is.
“I say to Iran and its agents of the axis of evil: Anyone who seeks to harm the Israeli people will pay a heavy price. We will continue to eliminate terrorists and those who send terrorists. We will bring back the hostages from Gaza, and we will bring home our people safely on our northern borders, and Israel will achieve all of our war goals for generations to come. “We are determined to change the security reality in our region,” he warned.
A drone was fired at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence on Saturday, a day after Hamas confirmed that Sheikh Yahya Sinwar had been killed in an Israeli military strike in the Gaza Strip.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said in a statement: “A UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) was fired at the prime minister’s official residence in Caesarea. The prime minister and his wife were not at the scene, and no one was injured in the incident.”
The Israeli military said three drones were launched from Lebanon on Saturday, and two were intercepted.
Neither Hezbollah nor any other armed group has so far claimed responsibility for the drone attack.
Shinwar is alleged to have masterminded the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel in which more than 1,200 Israelis were killed and more than 250 were taken hostage. Mr. Sinwar, who was killed on Wednesday, became Hamas chief after his predecessor, Ismail Haniyeh, was assassinated in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
