In a rare Thursday night game, the Glenwood Demons dropped a crucial conference opener to Eagle Valley 28-21 at Stabler Memorial Field. Glenwood’s final three games begin with a trip to Bears Stadium in Rifle on Friday night. Coleridge (4-2) traveled to Basalt on Friday night and lost a 42-7 decision to the Longhorns. The Rifles (0-6) didn’t have much luck, losing 45-0 to Palisade. Roaring Fork (2-4) also lost 40-0 to Meeker in Carbondale, which proved to be a pretty tough game. Grand Valley (2-4) defeated Olathe 25-14 for its second straight win.

Glenwood (10-3) won 3-1 against Eagle Valley on Tuesday. Gianna Zambrano had eight aces and 13 digs, and Emory Walter had five aces, 30 assists and four kills in the win over the Devils. The Demons also defeated Rifle 3-0 (2-10) Thursday night at Chavez Spencer Gym in a game dedicated to the memory of Ellie Westphal. Roaring Fork (5-9) shut out Moffat County 3-0 Thursday night in Carbondale. The Rams head out on the road on Tuesday (Basalt) and Thursday (Olesi). Grand Valley (5-12) won 3-1 at home against Olathe on Thursday. Coleridge (6-10) lost 3-1 against Basalt on Thursday and traveled to Grand Junction Central on Saturday, falling short to the Warriors by a score of 3-2.

Roaring Fork (8-2-1) defeated Glenwood Springs (5-4-1) 3-1 on Friday night in Glenwood. The Rams were ranked No. 4 in the state Class 3A poll heading into the game. Rifle (7-2-1) won 2-0 at Basalt on Thursday. The Bears host Glenwood on Tuesday. Coleridge (7-4-1) lost 3-2 at home to Palisade on Tuesday, but won 4-3 at home against Steamboat on Thursday. In major league action, the Titans host Roaring Fork on Tuesday. Grand Valley (4-6-1) tied Colorado Rocky Mountain School 1-1 on Tuesday. The Cardinals host Moffat County on Tuesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, Rifle Creek Golf Course hosted local cross country teams with Glenwood, Coleridge and Rifle in attendance. Top female finishers were Anna Robinson (Rifle, 19:37, 2nd place), Effie Fletcher (Coleridge, 19:39, 3rd place), Hayley Whitman (Coleridge, 20:38, 9th place), Eva Hassell (Glenwood, 53rd, 24:19). On the boys side, Jake Kurt (Coleridge, 17:30, 11th place), Brody Evans (Coleridge, 18:19, 20th place) and Finn Long (Glenwood, 18:23, 21st place) ) and Tanner Merritt (Glenwood, 18:23, 21st place). 18:34 on the 26th).

Rifle (10-13) closed out the regular season with home wins against Basalt on Tuesday and Cede Ridge on Friday. The Bears lost to Palisade 14-11 on Wednesday.

Congratulations to Roaring Fork High School students Griffin Didier, Jackson Stewart, and Hudson Arnold for leading Basalt to a third-team team finish at the 3A State Golf Championships in Pueblo. Didier shot a round of 69-70, earning him second place overall. Stewart (74-73) was tied for 10th place, and Arnold (81-79) was 38th. Didier and Arnold are sophomores, and Stewart is a senior.
