Romeo Dube wasted no time before returning home on Sunday afternoon.
Dub, who missed last week’s contest after serving a one-game suspension, earned a dominant victory Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field. The Green Bay Packers wide receiver caught two touchdowns in a breakthrough game, defeating the Arizona Cardinals 34-13. This puts the Packers at 4-2 on the season and their fourth win in their last five games.
Dubs was suspended for “conduct detrimental to the team,” which caused him to miss last week’s 24-19 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Daus reportedly missed two practices in the days leading up to the game, upset with how the Packers were using him in the passing game. He addressed the situation on Friday and denied the report. Dowse said he missed Green Bay’s win over Los Angeles due to mental health concerns.
“I wish I had handled things differently,” Dowse said.
Any concerns about the Packers’ passing game should be long gone after Sunday. Dubs had three catches for 49 yards and was targeted four times. His first touchdown of the season came on the first play of the second quarter, when he caught a short pass on the sideline and ran into the end zone. This gave the Packers an early 14-0 lead.
Daus followed this up with a 20-yard reception late in the third quarter for his second touchdown, but quarterback Jordan Love barely got off the ground trying to escape a sack in the backfield.
The touchdown came after the Cardinals scored 13 unanswered points and were on the verge of a comeback. That hope quickly dissipated as the Cardinals fumbled on their next two possessions. The Packers held on the rest of the way and won by 21 points.
Arizona lost the game with Kyler Murray completing 22 of 32 passes for 214 yards and one touchdown, dropping its record to 2-4 on the year. Trey Benson led the Cardinals with 26 rushing yards on five carries, and Trey McBride had 96 receiving yards on eight catches.
Rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. fell to the field early in the second quarter and was ejected, taking a hard hit while trying to make a catch and did not return. He was ruled out due to concussion.
Love was 22-of-32, throwing for 258 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. He hit Christian Watson with a team-high 68 receiving yards and Jayden Reed for the final two scores after Doubs’ touchdown. Josh Jacobs led the team with 62 rushing yards on 18 carries.
Dubs entered the day with 12 catches for 169 receiving yards and 20 targets for the Packers, his third time this season. He was second on the team in targets, receptions and receiving yards before his suspension. The 24-year-old was drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Nevada and is in the third year of a four-year, $4.3 million rookie contract with Green Bay.
His suspension wasn’t great for him or the Packers, but both have worked through it. Dubs’ comeback has officially come to an end.
