Sages was the runner-up. Monticello (14-12), which went 2-1 at the Gold Pool, lost to Lexington 25-20, 26-24 in the championship game. Maddie Melton and Addison Finette earned Sages All-Tournament Team honors. Melton had 57 digs and eight aces, while Finette had 52 assists and seven aces. In the Blue Pool, Arthur Lavington Atwood Hammond (19-7) improved to 2-1, losing to Beecher 25-18, 25-16 in the repechage match and settling for fourth place. Alena Plank led the Knights with an all-tournament team performance with 54 assists and 18 digs. The Vikings finished with a win. After losses to Bloomington and Jacksonville, Danville (7-10-4) defeated Lincoln 2-1 to take third place in the two-day tournament. Addison Underwood and TJ Foreman scored, and Rylan Anderson and Mauricio Albizu had assists. Goaltender Gabe VanDeen made 37 saves in three games.

In Urbana. Mahomet Seymour continued its historic season by winning the nine-team Tiger Invitational and highlighted by four program records. Bella Almarod broke her own 1-meter diving record by 31 points with a score of 346.30. Taryn O’Donnell broke the 100-yard freestyle record by four-hundredths of a second, winning in 53.47 seconds. O’Donnell, Lainey Howard, Caroline Mills and Regan O’Donnell won with a time of 1:40.95, setting a new 200-second freestyle relay record. Carsyn Johnson replaced Howard on the record-setting and winning 400-meter freestyle relay team (3:43.93). At Metamora. Champaign Central’s Caleb Mathias and Mahomet Seymour’s Augustus Gaudio battled for the top spot at the Running Red Invitational. In the end, both finished behind Glenbard South’s Thomas Jochum, but Mathias took second with a time of 14:47.0 and Gaudio took third with a time of 14:58.4. However, the Bulldogs dominated as a team, earning Henry McMurray a sixth-place finish (15:03.7) for second overall and the Maroons in 13th place. Rantoul finished 15th out of 23 teams, led by Eli Neitzel in 53rd place (16:29.5).

At Metamora. Unity’s Emily Decker and Mackenzie Pound fared well from other area runners at the Running Red Invitational, finishing second and fourth with times of 17:25.1 and 17:54.1, respectively. However, the Rockets ended up in 7th place, 2 points behind Mahomet Seymour in 6th place. Leading the Bulldogs were Emily Annand in 16th (18:40.3) and Cecily Smith in 19th (19:00.4). Champaign Central finished 14th as a team with Maria Busing finishing 46th (19:57.7). Rantoul finished 23rd of 23rd, led by 91st place Olivia Hunt (21:04.7).

The Vikings are second in the Big 12 Tournament. Following her Big 12 Conference title in No. 1 doubles with partner Reece Randle on Friday, Danville’s Anna Houpt also won the No. 1 singles title. Randle is just one win away from matching Hoop’s feat and earning No. 2 singles honors. Aliyah Morgan, Samantha Brown, Maya Town, and Lexi Foley placed third in their respective brackets. As a team, the Vikings finished in second place, just five points behind Normal Community.
