Elon Musk comes weeks after a pressure campaign forced Kamala Harris to delete a social media post in which she expressed surprise that no one had tried to assassinate the vice president or Joe Biden. , said the attempt to kill Kamala Harris was “senseless.”
The Tesla and SpaceX entrepreneur steps back into the murky waters of political assassination with a web video interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, which Musk posted on his X platform. .
Referring to his original comments at the beginning of the 1 hour and 48 minute exchange, Musk told Carlson: What will you achieve?
The two broke into laughter, and Carlson replied, “That’s a deep story, but it’s true.”
“Just buy another puppet,” Musk continued, adding: “Nobody tried to kill Joe Biden. That would be pointless.”
“That’s absolutely true,” Carlson agrees.
Asked to elaborate on the post, Musk continued: “Some people interpreted it as if I was calling people to assassinate her, but I thought…doesn’t it seem strange that no one cares? She won’t try…she’s safe.”
When a guest laughs at one of his jokes, Carlson deadpans, “That’s funny.”
In particular, authorities have arrested people who have made death threats against Harris and Biden on multiple occasions. A Virginia man was arrested in August and charged with threatening the vice president.
Musk’s first comments on X were posted shortly after the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump last month. On September 15, a man was arrested after Secret Service agents found a gun protruding from a bush at the former president’s golf club in Palm Beach, Florida. Ryan Routh was later charged with attempting to kill President Trump. He denies the charges.
“And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” Musk wrote after the incident, along with a confused emoji.
Musk had been a vocal and enthusiastic supporter of President Trump’s bid to return to the White House, but later deleted the post following angry backlash and a comment from the Secret Service that he was “aware” of it.
“Well, one of the lessons I learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that funny as a post to 𝕏.” he later wrote in the explanation.
“We found that jokes are less funny when people don’t know the context and the content is plain text.”
The interviewer burst out laughing after suggesting this to his guest. “If he (Trump) loses…you’re fucked, dude.”
Musk jokingly retorted: If he loses, I’m screwed. ”
As laughter echoed around him and Carlson was clearly pleased, the tech billionaire continued: I don’t know if I’ll be able to see my children. ”
Musk’s latest assassination comments came just days after he appeared on stage with Trump at the same location in Butler, Pennsylvania, over the weekend. There, on July 13, a would-be assassin attempted to kill the former president. In the incident, President Trump was grazed in the ear by a bullet, a rally attendee was shot, and the assailant himself was killed by Secret Service agents.
Shortly after that attempt, Trump was endorsed by Musk. He later said he would appoint Musk to chair the Government Efficiency Commission if he became president again.
The Washington Post says the Secret Service has increased security protections for Trump following criticism for failing to thwart the first assassination attempt, but is aware of Musk’s latest comments. He said he was doing so.
