Abu Dhabi already has an amazing selection of hotels, but several hotel brands with major loyalty programs are starting to make their way to the capital.
Both Hilton and IHG have announced exciting new projects in Abu Dhabi that will see the relaunch of a small number of hotels.
In the first major change, the Eastern Mangrove Abu Dhabi Hotel, formerly an Anantara property, will join the Hilton family as the Waldorf Astoria Abu Dhabi. Waldorf Astoria has locations in other emirates, including Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, but this will be its first location in Abu Dhabi. Located near Abu Dhabi’s Mangrove National Park, the hotel features 167 rooms and suites, three swimming pools, restaurants ranging from a brasserie to a rooftop venue, and Waldorf’s signature Peacock Alley.
Located on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, IHG has partnered with UAE-based leading real estate company Aldar to transform six different hotels within the Yas Plaza hotel complex into one resort under the Vignette Collection banner. I will renovate it.
Scheduled to open late next year, Straylight Yas, Vignette Collection (as the integrated resort complex will henceforth be called) will see all of its various facilities renovated and refurbished. In total, Straylight Yas will have more than 1,300 rooms. Beach access (a first for the complex). Retail stores, restaurants. There is also access to golf courses, golf and beach villas, beach clubs and open-air theaters.
IHG will also take over Tilal Liwa Hotel, a desert resort in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region, which will become a Vignette Collection resort. The 110-room property, which includes tented villas with private pools, three restaurants and swimming pools, will enter a soft opening phase later this year and is expected to fully open in 2025.
