The Big Boy statue in front of the former Mama Ducky’s store at 290 W. Main St. in downtown Waukesha has added another clue as to what customers can expect. A sign for Joey’s Diner is on the front door, and the owners say they’re excited to bring a diner-like experience to downtown.
Owner Joey Gudgeon previously owned several George Webb restaurants and currently owns the nearby Waukesha Evolution Bar and Picky Picky Resale Shop across the street . He said customers “will be asking when we’re going to reopen restaurants where they can enjoy food, conversation and counter seating.” I was motivated by my drive and desire to serve the community as well as my previous customers. ”
Additionally, Gudgeon said he wants to offer “delicious Wisconsin fresh food with a retro feel.”
Gudgeon emphasized that she is grateful for the community’s support through the ups and downs of her life.
“I always put my heart and soul into it, so I can’t wait to get back to serving them in a diner setting,” he said.
Gudgeon hopes to open Joey’s Diner by mid-October.
