Tokyo Tower’s operator announced Thursday that it will begin offering luxury small-group tours this weekend that offer priority admission to the observation deck, aimed at attracting high-end foreign tourists.
The Tokyo Diamond Tour costs 7,000 yen ($50) per adult and will be held seven times a day starting Saturday, with a capacity of 10 participants each time. Each group will be accompanied by a dedicated guide.
Makoto Maeda, president of Tokyo Tower Co., said the tour is “the most expensive of the observation decks in Japan.”

Approximately 2.2 million people visit Tokyo Tower annually, with foreign tourists accounting for 40% of the total.
There used to be a members-only restaurant, Momijikan, on the premises, which entertained domestic and international celebrities.
In honor of this history, the special lounge where the tour will meet will feature an autumn red motif inspired by the store’s name, and will display photos from the time Tokyo Tower opened.
Performers will be placed at various points on the tour to enhance the entertainment level, and participants will be able to enjoy the views from both the 150 meter high main observation deck and the 250 meter high observation deck. The tour includes use of a private elevator, so there are no waiting times.
Meanwhile, starting Saturday, the price of individual admission tickets to the observatory will increase from 1,200 yen to 1,500 yen per adult.
