Welcome to Same Same But Different. As fashion commerce editors for Gen Z and Millennials respectively, we know a thing or two about shopping for all ages, especially demographics. When you find the product that’s right for you, we can’t help but do a little shopping for ourselves and create a personal (age-appropriate) wish list. And now we are sharing them with you all. Check out what’s been on our minds and in our carts lately.

Dale Chong: Fashion month is coming to an end and it’s time to talk about everything we saw from the runways. Of course, we’ve broken down the biggest trends from New York, London, Milan, and Paris, but we want to know what you’re feeling about your closet heading into spring. Any thoughts?

Meg Donahue: I missed this season due to surgery, so I was watching all the action from afar (FOMO was crazy, by the way). But browsing the collection gallery and bookmarking your favorite looks was definitely just as much fun as attending a show without the blisters and crowds. As always, there’s a lot to break down. Start here. Acne Studios and Alaïa are tied for my favorite show.
I loved how Acne played with prints, especially plaid. I think I got into plaid around, oh, I don’t know, 2009. I haven’t thought anything about it since. The fact that this collection changes that is just proof. And Alaia was really great. Movement! shape! These two collections together give me a good idea of the kind of woman I aspire to be. Do you have a favorite? I’m sure so.

DC: Well, quite a few, actually! But once I narrowed it down, I found myself drawn to Bottega Veneta. I love how the entire collection focuses on ideas of childhood and play. Zanotta Socco’s leather bean bags (obviously inspired by ET) and bright color palettes ooze a sense of dress-up and playfulness, while the leather crocheted flowers and wraps From clothes with trompe l’oeil to them, my inner crafty girl was inspired to start playing with my clothes again. (Of course, when I do it, it may not have the same charm…but the emotion is there!) So, I needed to inject that energy into my veins.
We don’t know about you, but we’ve been preparing clothes that make you feel something. Bottega’s collection does just that. But another show that caught my eye was Issey Miyake in Paris. Oh, this is going to stay in my mind for a while. First of all, I love strong silhouettes. Plus, while we saw a lot of transparent materials on this season’s runways, we love the way they were showcased here, including silk organdy, open knits, and semi-sheer weaves. It’s light and airy yet has an edge, so I think I’ll be copying it come spring.

MD: Personally, I like the bean bag chair. Now, next question. Can you most clearly imagine the collection you are wearing?
DC: As I browsed through collection after collection, I could confidently say that I am a Chloé fan. The way Chemena Kamali brought bohemian chic to life, and might I add, inspired you to rethink your aesthetic in the same way you chose to rethink plaid. Ta.
And when it comes to very feminine (but edgy) collections that you can wear without looking too costume-y, I love Cecily Bahnsen. Her brand is strong and I dove headfirst into the Kool-Aid. Plus, like I always do, when I wear her creations, especially in everyday situations, I feel really happy. Needless to say, I almost fainted when I saw her collaboration with The North Face. My two worlds have collided.

MD: Cecily Bahnsen is a strong brand and Bohemian is timeless. My answer is Coach. In other words, it’s an outerwear! Thick white sneakers and socks! Bags with stickers on them! It was made for me. A special award goes to COS’s “See Now, Buy Now” collection. Frankly, it’s just one of my go-to capsule wardrobe brands. What is a unique piece that you must own?
DC: I can’t help but think of the belted totes that Prada showed this season. This is the latest incarnation of the label’s current range of belted buckle bags, and it lives without a rental in my head. So…if anyone is reading this…you know where to find me. What are you looking forward to this season?

MD: That’s funny, I should mention the unforgettable bag because that’s what I was trying to say. Shall we talk about the Moschino bleach bottle? And you should have seen Grace Lin (another show I love) wearing a handbag over her shoulder like a sweater.
I can’t lie, I feel like I’ve become a little younger style-wise. Regarding your point about clothes letting you explore, this month I feel like my fellow fashion lovers are more open-minded than ever when it comes to personal style. I think it’s time to try the serotonin dressing…
DC: Try it! I’m willing to wait for those office fits.
