Colorado State University closes building after reports of unusual health conditions 01:31
Colorado State University has removed classes and labs from its Fort Collins physiology building after someone reported health concerns there. The university said it has hired a third-party firm to investigate why some people in the building developed symptoms.
According to CSU, the issue arose in June when a staff member reported having a health issue while working specifically in three rooms in the menstrual building. Employees reported symptoms such as eye irritation, redness, and even sinus problems.
Over the next few months, CSU conducted tests to identify the problem. The university said it had collected more than 30 samples from the facility and had mixed results come back.
After hiring a third-party company to conduct the investigation, the CSU said the results so far have not identified any issues beyond normal scope. However, as a precaution, the university moved laboratories and classes to other facilities. Access to the building was also restricted for most students.
Activities within the building are restricted and only those with a key card can access the facility.
