Tucked away in the woods, this custom-built lodge stands out from the rest on Dauphin Island, a picturesque town surrounded by water off the coast of Alabama.
Built in 2018, the facility has served as a fisherman’s paradise for the past six years. But now its owner has put the mansion on the market for nearly $5 million, making it the most expensive home for sale on the island.
The 4,400-square-foot property, called The Lodge at Dauphin Island, has six bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms, and sits on 2.2 acres. Grace Tyson, a real estate agent and listing agent for the property, said a tournament fisherman built the facility so he and other competitors could stay overnight when out on the water.

Tyson, who has owned and operated Grace Tyson Realty since 1991, said there is no other property like the Lodge on Dauphin Island. Dauphin Island is a vacation destination near Mobile Island and Pensacola that is becoming increasingly popular with snowbirds looking for a second home away from the cold. . She has also helped people from New Orleans and all over Louisiana find beach homes there.
This home has an open concept floor plan centered around a unique stone fireplace. It has white oak walls and ceilings, solid cedar box beams, and “two spacious en-suite bedrooms offering the ultimate in comfort and relaxation,” according to the property listing.
Outdoor space includes a 5,000-square-foot accessory building with a fire pit, saltwater pool, and four entrances for parking and storage of boats. Tyson also said he was “chilling.”
The mansion can also be listed as a vacation rental if the owner has the proper license on Dauphin Island.
