After a 5-1 loss earlier this season, the Warren boys soccer team held McDowell scoreless in the first half before the Trojans capitalized on every opportunity they had in the second half.McDowell scored four straight goals in the second half to beat Warren, 4-0, on Tuesday at War Memorial Field and improve to 8-0 in Region 5 play.
“Obviously we’re disappointed with the result but we’re proud of how we played.” “We came out and competed for the first 60 minutes and started with some great team defense, not giving them many chances and Chase (Sittler) and Dom (Holmberg) made some big plays at the back,” said Warren coach Stephen Blair, whose Dragons are 6-4 overall and 4-4 in the region.
“As a team, conceding the first goal affected us mentally and that’s something we need to improve on.” Blair added. “The players are working really hard and we have great confidence that this team will come together and play their best football consistently for 80 minutes.”
Warren’s Quinn Norris, Finn Ordiway, Trey Carrington and Casey Rich all recorded double-digit steals from midfield.
