Aurora police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a man outside a store on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024.
At 8:45 p.m., officers were called to a liquor store near the intersection of East Colfax Avenue and Helena Street for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 38-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died a short time later.
The Major Crimes Homicide Unit determined two men went to a liquor store and got into an argument with two other men and a woman in the parking lot. The argument escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in a shooting. Witnesses told police three suspects fled the scene in a silver sedan.
No one has been arrested in the case and police have not released any suspect information at this time.
The shooting happened near the Whispering Pines Apartments, which has attracted national attention for being taken over by alleged Venezuelan gang members, but Aurora police said they have no information linking the shooting to immigrant communities or gang activity.
