SMU will make its ACC debut on the big stage on Sept. 28 when Florida State comes to town.
The ACC announced Monday that SMU will host the Florida State Seminoles starting at 7 pm CST on the ACC Network, and the Mustangs will be looking to make a statement against the defending conference champions.
This game was considered SMU’s toughest preseason because Florida State, a team that missed out on last year’s College Football Playoff, was ranked No. 10 in the preseason Associated Press rankings. But three straight losses to unranked teams since the start of the year make this matchup that much more interesting and competitive for SMU, which is seeking its first conference win.
Florida State has already played three ACC opponents by the time it arrives in University Park: The Seminoles have lost to Georgia Tech and Boston College and will face Cal this weekend.
SMU will enter its first ACC game 3-1 or 2-2, depending on the outcome of Saturday afternoon’s rivalry game against TCU.
SMU announced that standalone tickets for its game against Florida State had sold out on Aug. 22.
SMU and Florida State have never played against each other before.
