Nine teams remain at 2-0 after Sunday’s games. Philadelphia has a chance to achieve that record on Monday night against Atlanta. Among the teams at the top of the list are the Saints, who can’t stop scoring, and the defending champion Chiefs, who beat another AFC contender on the final play of the game. But Kansas City was without running back Isaiah Pacheco for the game, and his ankle injury, along with Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp’s ankle injury, headlined the biggest injuries from Sunday in Week 2.
Isaiah Pacheco leaves game against Bengals with ankle injury
The Chiefs are 2-0 and have made some tough wins, including a narrow victory over the Ravens in the season opener and a Harrison Butker 51-yard field goal win in Week 2. But the win over Cincinnati might say more about what Kansas City lost in that game.
Pacheco finished with 90 yards on 19 carries and another 21 yards on five catches before leaving with an ankle injury, according to coach Andy Reid.
On Sunday night, ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reported that Pacheco left the stadium on crutches and in a walking boot and will undergo further testing on Monday.
Cooper Kupp suffers blowout loss to Cardinals
The Rams could be facing big questions at the wide receiver position after Cooper Kupp left Sunday’s game against the Cardinals with an ankle injury. Head coach Sean McVay didn’t elaborate on the extent of the injury, but Jordan Rodrigue of The Athletic reported Kupp was in a walking boot after the game. With Puka Nacua already expected to miss five to seven weeks with a PCL injury, any extended absence of Kupp would be a major blow.
Steelers are 2-0, but Justin Fields and the passing game remain neutral
Standings don’t take into account how they win, and while it’s true that the Steelers are 2-0, Pittsburgh hasn’t really benefited from the passing game. Justin Fields hasn’t been outstanding, but he’s been efficient, completing nearly 70% of his passes in two games, but he’s only managed 273 yards. The fact that he hasn’t thrown an interception might be the biggest news, but how long can Pittsburgh last at averaging 15.5 points per game? Pittsburgh is the only 2-0 team averaging fewer than 24 points per game.
