• Boys 3/4 Team 2 defeated Carver 8-1 in their first game of the season. Andy Michaelides and Jordan Dunn each scored three goals, while Teddy Misdeer and Kai Funari each scored one goal. The team’s next game is at Plimpton on Saturday, September 14th at noon. 5/6 Soccer lost 7-2 at home to Carver on Saturday, September 7th. Leif Markowitz made some great saves in goal. Finn Smith scored two goals and Slava Rzhevskiy showed great midfield play. The next game is at Pembroke on Saturday, September 14th.
• Girls 5/6 soccer played Hanover on their home turf and lost 7-1. Goals were hard to come by, but some fancy footwork kept Hull from being shut out. Reece Isby scored Hull’s goal with an assist from Magnolia Harbin. Sydney O’Brien played the full game as goalkeeper and made countless saves. Girls 7/8 lost their season opener 4-1 to a strong Halifax team. Aubrey Littlefield scored Hull’s goals and Sophie Mann was great in goalkeeping. Sixth graders Reece Irby, Molly McCarthy and Natalie Tierney were strong defensively. The team will host Duxbury at home on Saturday, September 14th.
• The Hull High School girls soccer team defeated Dennis Yarmouth 7-0 on Monday, September 9th, behind a hat trick from Fallon Ryan. Ellie Thomas contributed two goals and an assist, while Libby Harper and Georgia White scored the other two goals. Montana Alibrandi earned her second shutout as a goalkeeper. The team will play Abington at home on Monday, September 16th at 5:30 pm. The JV team will play at 4 pm. The next day the team will travel to Carver to play the Crusaders at 4 pm. On Friday, September 20th the girls team will host East Bridgewater at 6 pm with the JV game starting at 4:30 pm.
• The Hull High School boys soccer team lost 2-0 at home to the Cohasset Skippers on September 11. The Pirates next travel to Abington High School on Monday, September 16 at 5:00 pm before returning home to face Carver on Tuesday at 5:30 pm. On Thursday, the Pirates will host South Shore Charter School, also at 5:30 pm. Last Wednesday, the team opened the season with a very tense and entertaining 2-2 draw against top division Mashpee on the Cape. The Pirates took the lead at the half on a long-range shot by Tomas Brazil. The game was tied at halftime, but Christian Truglia scored midway through the second half. Mashpee tied the game 10 minutes before the end, and despite chances for both teams in a hectic game, the game ended 2-2. It was a very good start to what is sure to be an exciting season. Great performances from Finn Walsh, Max Lofgren, Jonah Whelan, Nate Tierney and Nick MacDonald and it was also great to see Oliver Szabo back from injury.
• The Pirates Varsity Football team’s first regular season game will be against South Shore Technical High School, under the home lights on Friday, September 13th at 7pm. The home opener will also feature a POW/MIA memorial ceremony by local veterans.
