In 2014, I had the unforgettable experience of driving the Bentley Flying Spur. This car was the epitome of luxury, power, and prestige. It wasn’t just a car, it was a statement. From the moment I got behind the wheel, I felt the weight of its presence. In fact, I remember feeling anxious at times while driving around the streets of Atlanta. The attention the car attracted was so intense that I suspected I was being tailgated on a few occasions, but it wasn’t just the attention that left an indelible impression. The W12 engine was a marvel of power and refinement, but I couldn’t help but notice that the brakes didn’t live up to the engine’s full potential. My 2014 review focused on luxury and comfort as a glowing tribute to Bentley craftsmanship. But even then, I couldn’t have imagined what the Flying Spur would be like in 10 years’ time.

Now that Bentley is unveiling the fourth-generation Flying Spur for the 2024 model year, I’m in awe of the transformation the car has undergone. I haven’t had a chance to experience it in person yet, but judging by everything I’ve read and seen in the press releases and from fellow enthusiasts, it’s clear that Bentley has redefined the Flying Spur, elevating it from an ultra-luxury sedan to a true four-door supercar.
At the heart of the new Flying Spur is Bentley’s latest “Ultra Performance Hybrid” powertrain, which produces an astounding 782 PS (around 770 HP) and 1,000 Nm (737 ft.-lbs) of torque. That’s a massive 19% increase in power compared to the previous W12 model I drove in 2014. The numbers are staggering, with 0 to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. This isn’t just a luxury car; it’s now capable of supercar-level acceleration, combining the best of both worlds with a hybrid system that pairs a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a 190 PS (187 HP) electric motor. This combination not only delivers breathtaking speed, but also an all-electric driving range of up to 47 miles, perfect for city driving and driving in low emission zones. And with low CO2 emissions of 33g/km, Bentley has succeeded in developing a vehicle that is both powerful and environmentally friendly.

The increased performance is matched by advances in Bentley’s technology and engineering. The chassis has been improved with Bentley Dynamic Ride and All-Wheel Steering, giving the new Flying Spur handling dynamics that could only be dreamed of in 2014. Rear-weighted weight distribution and twin-valve dampers deliver an exhilarating, composed driving experience in Comfort, Bentley or Sport modes. It is clear that the 2024 Flying Spur is not just a car for straight-line speed, but a finely tuned machine designed for those who enjoy the thrill of driving.
What about the interior? Judging by these photos, Bentley has raised the bar once again. A new precision diamond quilt pattern on the seats and 3D diamond hide on the doors and B-pillars take craftsmanship to a new level. All four passengers have wellness seats with postural adjustment and seat auto climate, so you’ll arrive feeling refreshed, no matter how long the drive. We fondly remember the opulence of the 2014 model, but this new Flying Spur seems to combine beauty with cutting-edge technology to take comfort and design to a whole new level.

One feature I’m particularly excited to experience is “My Bentley App Studio”, which integrates popular apps directly into the car’s infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and over-the-air map updates make the Flying Spur not only feel premium, but connected too. The technology is seamlessly integrated, allowing for an intuitive, user-friendly driving experience – something that wasn’t around in 2014.

The appearance of the new Flying Spur has also evolved, with a new grille, bumper, diffuser and dark-tinted brightware giving the car a more dynamic, aggressive stance. Optional 22-inch wheels add further presence, while the LED welcome lamps which project the Bentley Wings logo onto the ground are a subtle yet stylish touch. It’s clear that Bentley has paid attention to detail to ensure the Flying Spur remains as good-looking as it is powerful.

I haven’t had a chance to get behind the wheel of this 2024 model masterpiece yet, but everything I’ve read and seen indicates that the car has truly been transformed. The Flying Spur is no longer just a symbol of luxury. It’s a high-performance, engineering marvel that bridges the gap between supercar and luxury sedan. It pushes the boundaries of what a four-door sedan can achieve, while retaining the elegance and craftsmanship that are synonymous with Bentley.
When I drove the Flying Spur in 2014, I praised its luxury and presence. Today, looking at the 2024 model, I see much more than that: a car that dominates both the luxury and performance markets. An aspirational vehicle, to be sure, but also a conqueror, attracting new customers looking for the perfect balance of power, efficiency and refinement.

I can’t wait to experience the 2024 Flying Spur first-hand. From everything I’ve seen, this car is going to be nothing short of extraordinary. Bentley has truly transformed the concept of a luxury sedan into something that transcends its category, offering a driving experience unlike anything else on the road today. When I finally get behind the wheel, I have no doubt that this car will meet and exceed all expectations.
Bentley has yet to officially announce the MSRP for the 2024 Flying Spur, but I have a sneaking suspicion that if you’re seriously considering buying one, the price probably won’t keep you up at night. Let’s be honest, if you can afford to park a Bentley in your garage, you’ll care more about whether the leather color matches the interior of your yacht than how many zeros there are on your bill. So, those of us who have to ask questions… well, let’s just say we’re not the target demographic. For the rest of you, go ahead and start customizing. I know you want to too.
