Former President Donald Trump spoke at a campaign rally at an airfield in central Wisconsin on Saturday, touching on familiar topics and praising allies Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. while expressing confidence in Tuesday’s debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Here are some of the things Trump said during the rally:
On the debate: Trump said the country is run by “stupid people” and that “the debate with Joe Biden showed that.”
“We’ll find out again on Tuesday night. Is anybody watching?” Trump asked the audience, predicting that pundits would say he lost the debate even “if I beat her.”
Praising RFK Jr.: Trump repeatedly praised Kennedy, saying that with his help he could “take on corruption at the FDA, the CDC, the World Health Organization and other public health agencies.”
Kennedy, a former independent presidential candidate who has espoused conspiracy theories about vaccines and other issues, has been tapped to lead a committee that would look into chronic health issues if Trump takes office.
On Boeing and SpaceX: President Trump said it’s “embarrassing” that the Boeing Starliner crew is trapped in space, and that Musk, the SpaceX CEO, “is going to have to save them.”
Trump continued to publicly praise the tech billionaire as the two men strengthened their alliance.
“He’s very good at what he does,” Trump said of Musk. “Leon is going to launch a rocket and I’m excited about that,” he added, apparently misspelling Musk’s first name.
Musk’s praise came just days after President Trump announced that if he is re-elected, he would appoint Musk to chair a new government efficiency commission.
Colorado Voting: Trump cited the 14th Amendment’s insurrection clause in connection with the January 6 attack on the Capitol, saying Coloradans should hold a “massive protest vote” in his favor after attempts to remove him from the ballot failed.
