The lights shone brightly under a pleasant fall sky as football games were played across North Dakota on Friday night, with many teams playing against opponents with similar records as both host and visiting schools looked to break away from the pack and form an identity to intensify the race for the top seed going forward.
Minot North 35, Wahpeton 21
The Sentinels are now 2-0 after picking up their second home win over the visiting Huskies from Wahpeton. Minot North moved the ball well with a balanced attack of run and pass, controlled the clock and turned a 14-0 lead in the second quarter into an eventual 35-21 victory.
The Sentinels will travel to West Fargo-Horace for a game next week.
Minot High School 41, Fargo Shanley 7
The Magicians went on the road with the intent of once again proving themselves strong against the host team from Fargo, Minot High School, and they did just that, winning. The Magicians were never threatened once and led the offense from start to finish.
Minot High School’s next opponent will be hosting Fargo Davis High School at home in a game next week.
Ray/Powers Lake 34, Deluxe-Burlington 20
