π Good morning everyone. Especially…
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs have won by the narrowest of margins during their magical run to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances, and that trend continues as they seek an unprecedented third championship. With no time left, he landed in the back of the end zone with his toes just outside the line. And Kansas City came away with a big 27-20 win over the Ravens on Thursday night.
There’s a lot of expectations to live up to for the rest of the season.
So, does that mean there’s no NFL for Xavier Worthy? First-round draft pick 21-yard rush on first NFL touchHe then had a 35-yard touchdown catch, joining Rick Upchurch and James Brim as the only wide receivers with a touchdown rush and a touchdown reception in their NFL debuts. Patrick Mahomes passed Len Dawson for the NFL touchdown. Most passing yards in franchise historyand he did so in just over half of the games Dawson played for the team. The defense bowed but didn’t fold, doing a good job especially against Derrick Henry (46 yards rushing). Mahomes improved to 5-1 against Lamar Jackson. He is the only quarterback with at least three wins against Jackson.
Jared Dubin points out that Kansas City has made big strides after a frustrating year offensively.
Dubin: “Russie Rice, Travis Kelce, Isaiah Pacheco and Justin Watson each had catches of 20-plus yards, with many of those coming from outside the offensive line. If you’re looking for reasons to believe Kansas City can be even better this year than last, the season opener is a great sign.”
π Honorable Mention
π And it wasn’t a very good morning…
Baltimore Ravens
John Harbaugh was giving the finger. The Ravens were going for two points. They were going for the win.
They never had a chance. It really is a game of inches.
Jackson led the team with 273 yards passing and 122 yards rushing, but he was 1 of 8 passing in the red zone and 0 of 5 in goal-to-go situations (including 0 of 3 on the final drive). You have to be near perfect to beat the Chiefs, and Jackson was good, but it wasn’t good enough.
Once again, so close and yet so far.

π NFL Week 1 predictions, best games, and bold predictions
One game down, 271 to go! The NFL season has begun and a rare Friday night showdown continues tonight as the Packers and Eagles face off in the first-ever NFL game played in Brazil.
This is truly a great game, a truly elite showdown between an upstart Packers team looking to take the next step with Jordan Love and a talented Eagles team looking to prove they deserve to be back in the Super Bowl conversation after a tough end to last season. Will Brinson’s Best Bets say …
Brinson: “Packers (+2) – With a new offensive line led by Josh Jacobs and a physical run game with Love distributing the ball to a plethora of playmakers, I think they’ll start well on Friday night. The Eagles are still adjusting to a new offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore, and when you add in the fact that Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox have not taken the field in a while, I think Philadelphia will get off to a slow start against a Packers side that is gearing up for a Super Bowl run.”
One of my favorite matchups on Sunday is C.J. Stroud’s Texans versus Anthony Richardson’s Colts. These are two young, exciting quarterbacks. Tyler Sullivan says …
Sullivan: “I have a lot of doubts about Richardson. At times it looks like he could break out in the NFL and be an immediate MVP candidate. At other times, I question his chances of staying in the league due to his still-developing passing ability. You know who I don’t doubt? Stroud. Projected Score: Texans 27, Colts 17 | Prediction: Texans -2.5.”
Here are some recommendations from the experts:

π College football week 2 picks, previews
After a packed Week 1, college football continues with Week 2, with No. 3 Texas vs. No. 10 Michigan.Preview) opens Saturday. More from Dennis Dodd Two programs in completely different locations.
Dodd: “Texas is looking forward. Some at Michigan are looking backward. … The Wolverines enter Saturday’s game with some quarterback woes. Junior Alex Orji didn’t win the quarterback spot. Davis Warren is an exciting player but will have to prove he can hold down the spot. … Texas started the season with arguably the best quarterback staff in the country (Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning).”
The matchup between ranked schools is between No. 14 Tennessee and No. 24 NC State.Preview), Tom Fornelli What do you most want from a six pack?.
Fornelli: “I’m smitten with Tennessee’s Niko Iamareva, and I’m not ashamed to say it. This kid has a great mix of talent and production, and it’s amazing to see him show poise and polish with so little experience. … He gives me the vibes I get when watching players like Andrew Luck, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow and Caleb Williams. … Prediction: Tennessee -7.5 (-114).”
Moving on to an unranked but intriguing matchup, Colorado travels to Nebraska (Preview) and Deion Sander-Matt Rhule The tension easedBrandon Marcello also has some great insights. The “Prime Effect” on Colorado Communities.
