Travis Merrill, 51, was charged with murdering his Allegiance Trucks coworker, Tamhara Collazo, due to his obsession with her and frustration over her long absence from work. According to Fox 10, Merrill was arrested Thursday after allegedly fatally shooting Collazo at his desk.
The Allegiance truck is located near the Louisville Police Department’s temporary headquarters, allowing officers to respond within minutes, arresting Merrill and saving Collazo’s life.
Unfortunately, Mr. Colasso passed away from his injuries at the hospital.
Arrest warrants obtained by Fox News show that Merrill became increasingly angry at Collazo’s unauthorized leave of absence and her lack of attention to him. . Collazo even reported his behavior to human resources after he told her to stop looking at her during a break. Merrill had to see a counselor before returning to work.
When he returned, Mr. Colasso avoided him, which further escalated Mr. Merrill’s anger. He admitted to detectives that he bought a gun and began practicing at his home. On several occasions, he brought them to work but did not act because he “didn’t feel it was the right time.”
On the day of the shooting, Merrill followed Colasso during his lunch break, watched him sit in his car as usual, and then went to his car to retrieve two handguns.
“When she re-entered after lunch, he followed her into a private room, ‘ambushed’ her and fired his gun several times,” the affidavit states.
He is currently being held in jail on $10 million bail, the outlet reported.
