If the Chiefs beat the Eagles at Super Bowl LIX on Sunday night, it’s time to have a conversation about Patrick Mahomes walking Tom Brady for goat status. However, the Chiefs not only failed to win the game, but also got kicked by the Eagles, lost 40-22 in embarrassing fashion, and career in the game where they went down in the Super Bowl in Bottom 5 and the Worst Mahome Lost Game.
So instead of entertaining the conversation between Mahomes vs. Brady, let’s shut it down completely. Brady was calling, perfectly fitting, as he was now in the building for two separate Super Bowl blowouts. The first was a bloody bath in the Tampa Chiefs during Brady’s first season as Brady’s quarterback. It was a 31-9 morling when Brady played good football and the Backs defense destroyed Kansas City’s offensive line.
The second was a Sunday night. Mahome is constantly under pressure from the Eagles’ destruction of the Eagles’ offensive line, and Kansas City is generally unprepared and ready to deal with what Philadelphia has brought to both sides of the ball. It’s done.
We are constantly rushing to compare sports – guilty of being charged here – and even if he wins this game, Mahomes chasing the Brady concept was not out of control. But he didn’t. And this is how this works in the NFL, even if judging a career in one game is often a bad process. You play to win the Super Bowl. If you want to be the best of all time, you can’t go to the stadium, play for the title and get blown away.
Super Bowl 2025: Chief Patrick Mahomes sees the Eagles’ quiet confidence, young talent sees defense

The chiefs have now been blown away twice. Brady lost the Super Bowl, but he was never blown away. The Mahome and the Chiefs play on fire all season – they can win 17 games in the playoffs, 12 of which can be won in one score game.
However, the outcome of this game was clearly not the case. Brady’s lowest point in Super Bowl run was a 28-3 deficit against the Falcons in Super Bowl LI. He came back and won with the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. The crimes of Mahomes and the Chiefs did not even bother to collect comebacks with either of the blown losses.
How can you suggest that Mahomes and Reid deserve Echelon’s place along with Brady and Bill Belichick?
I’ve all endured the idea that Mahomes could end his career as the greatest quarterback of all time. And I think Reid could be the best coach of all time. I also think Kirby Smart can walk Nick Saban as the best college coach of all time, but this concept is based entirely on the outcome of not playing himself on the field.
Speaking of Georgia, the Eagles had bulldogs packed into their defense, and they controlled Mahome. Again, it is the second time he has been ruled and dismantled in the Super Bowl by elite defenses. Brady was beaten, but he never got beaten badly.
“It was basically the same blueprint I had (in Tampa),” Rob Gronkowski said after the game.
Gronk is right: Bucs rushed 4, the Eagles rushed 4, they put pressure on them, Mahomes and Reid had zero answers. It happened twice. Brady lost like that twice against the Giants when he deployed a rush of four who destroyed the Patriot attack, but things never got this. And if that’s the case, Brady designed a way to come back.
Mahomes wasn’t the second time in his career. And it’s time to lead the goat story to the table until he can.
