This is the time for NFL salary cap maths. Cap cuts, rebuilds, not to have a room under the cap, but to make a large free agent signature that we all love.
There are many cap rooms to work with when it’s close to free agency, but there are also teams that have work to do to get the league’s year below numbers before it starts on March 12th. I’ll ask questions over the next few weeks. So we saw one cap-related question for all teams as the combine is set up to start with a free agency next week.
How does trading with famous stars like Miles Garrett, Deebo Samuel Sr. and Cooper Kupp affect a team’s dead money? What does it mean for the Jets to move out of Aaron Rodgers, and perhaps the Falcons to do so from Kirk Cousins? Can the Ravens and Charger cut Mark Andrews and Joey Bosa respectively? And can Bengal inked new deals for Ja’marr Chase and Tee Higgins? Let’s get into it all. (Note: On Wednesday, the NFL informed the team that the pay cap for 2025 would range from $277.5 million per franchise to $281.5 million.)
