Check out our team’s best book recommendations for 2024.
Our team loves diving into new reading material. As we wrap up 2024, we’re sharing some of our favorite books of the year. There are books to inspire all kinds of literary adventures.
Here are our team’s top six book recommendations for 2024:
1. If you like historical fiction, The Women by Kristin Hannah was a favorite book for many of my hip friends in 2024.
“This book completely captivated me from the beginning. It tells the story of Fran, a young woman who joins the Army Nurse Corps during the Vietnam War. I found myself thinking about the story long after I read it. This book is for everyone: friends, family, and anyone looking for a truly captivating story that’s full of romance, drama, and history. ” – Bryn.
“We’re planning a second installment of Kristin Hannah’s The Woman. It was definitely a must-have. A book that makes you feel like you know the characters in real life.” – Elizabeth
“I have to put The Women in third place. It might be the best book I’ve read in the last five years, SO that’s good.” – Allie
2. If you like dystopian novels… I Know No Man by Jacqueline Harpman was one of Soleil’s favorite books.
“This book is written by the daughter of Holocaust survivors, and she uses their experiences to imagine a post-incarceration dystopian world from which she and several other women escape.” On his journey to find his life (not a spoiler, it never will be), the story Hand explores the freedom of life without the influence of society, men, politics, or even moral common sense. This book really raises the question of necessity and influence. I never stop thinking about this book and I can see it becoming a classic read in educational settings. 10/10!” – Soleil
3. If you like psychological thrillers, The Perfect Wedding by Geneva Rose is Crystal’s favorite book.
“The twists and turns kept me hooked the entire time. This book grabs you from the first page and gives you little in return. You read two pages and ‘try’ to put it down, but then what? You need to know what’s going to happen, so you’ll notice a tablet moving into every room you enter. My wife, my lover, and one of them are dead!? Yes, please! I’ll probably read it again before the year is over. ” – Crystal
4. If you like memoirs, Only Say Good Things by Crystal Hefner was Emily’s only read, and it was great.
“Probably the only book I’ve read this year, but I found it so fascinating, captivating, emotional, and enlightening. How easy it is to pass judgment on people without knowing their full story. The audiobook is only 6.5 hours long, so you can listen to it right away.” – Emily
5. If you like Western books, Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry is in Madison’s top three best books of all time.
“Yes, I’m completely late to the game, but this book is my Roman Empire. This epic American Western is filled with richly layered characters, adventure, longing, overlapping storylines, betrayal, and more.” I can’t tell you how much I want to read this again for the first time. Before I picked up this book, I thought to myself, “What is this author going to say in 864 pages? It’s a story!” I thought. And by page 864, I was swallowing my words and begging for this book to be twice as long, or better yet, never end. I’ve never read a Western before, and despite it being a genre that doesn’t usually appeal to me, this book happily made it into my top three list of all-time great books. If you have to read one western in your life, choose this one! ” – Madison
6. If you like autobiographies, “I’m Glad Mommy Died” by Jennette McCurdy was Dennis’ favorite book.
“I loved this because it was so honest and how difficult it must have been for her to share her memories.” – Denise
