Pakistani military officials say 104 passengers rescued from Pakistani trains on Tuesday were rescued from Pakistani trains on Tuesday, with hundreds being held hostage by the extremist Balochistan Liberation Army.
Officials say at least 17 people were injured and 16 terrorists were killed as the military operation continued.
Previously, US officials told ABC News that at least 450 people were held hostages on trains, and that six Pakistani soldiers had been killed.
The separatist militant group claimed that they had taken 182 military personnel and security personnel hostages on the train, but said they released the majority of civilians on board. The group said they claimed more casualties in the attack, killing 20 Pakistani soldiers and shooting down drones.

The BLA had threatened to kill all hostages if Pakistani forces tried to save them, officials said.
Officials said Bla blows up parts of the truck and stops the train before boarding and taking control.
The attack took place in the mountains just before the tunnel, making rescues extremely difficult, they said.
